TROOP & PACK 354

About us

Organizational chart
Welcome to Troop 354.

If you are interested in joining a Scouting America (formerly BSA) troop and want to know more about our troop, we invite you to join us for a meeting and talk to one of our Scoutmasters. We meet at Fairview Christian Church in Gladstone, Missouri, on most Monday nights at 7 p.m.

Our goal is to help transform boys into men who are leaders in their families, communities, country and world. We also hope that in this journey, they become Eagle Scouts which is the highest rank. Not only do we want them to become effective leaders, we want to help them learn valuable life skills and learn to work with others as a team. Scouting also asks that each Scout believe in a supreme being. This belief will help make the goals mentioned above more personal and purposeful to the Scout.

These ideals are achieved by earning the different ranks in Scouts, attending meetings, and participating in monthly campouts and summer camp. Meetings are held weekly except the Monday after campouts and major holidays. Scouts are recognized for their achievements during courts of honor that are held throughout the year.

Campouts are when the Scouts can really hone their leadership skills and learn the value of working as a team. Our troop attends summer camp at the Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, Missouri. This is a great time for them to work on merit badges, learn to be more independent and participate in the camping honor program Mic-O-Say.

As a part of the process of progressing through the Scouting program, the boys will have the opportunity to learn skills that they can carry with them for a lifetime. Merit badges concentrate on specific areas of interest such as cycling, engineering, communication and being a better citizen. Working on the ranks of scouting that start with the rank of Scout, Tenderfoot and ultimately to Eagle, Scouts will work on various skill sets such as first aid, cooking, orienteering and budgeting that will help them navigate a complex world as an adult.

If you are new to Scouting America, the following chart (on the right for desktop users, below on mobile) explains how it is organized.

We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions that you may have about our troop.

Sincerely,
The Scoutmaster Team
